Shedeur, 24, is competing directly with veteran Deshaun Watson for Cleveland’s Week 1 starting berth. The Browns have structured the battle so that the two quarterbacks alternate with the first-team unit to open camp. Watson took those reps on Wednesday, July 29. Shedeur got his turn the following day — with his father watching from the sideline.
Shedeur Delivers on a Visible Day
The timing worked out well for the younger Sanders. He connected on multiple downfield throws during the session, targeting rookie wide receiver Denzel Boston along with second-year pass-catchers Harold Fannin Jr. and Isaiah Bond. The performance came a day after Watson threw two interceptions during his own first-team stint.
Shedeur delivered. His father was watching. The contrast with Wednesday was sharp.
Monken Meets Coach Prime Before Practice
Before the session began, Deion Sanders sat down with Browns head coach Todd Monken for their first face-to-face meeting since Monken was appointed in January, the Beacon Journal reported. General manager Andrew Berry was also on the schedule to meet with Sanders.
Monken was enthusiastic about the visit. He told reporters, per the Beacon Journal, that having a figure of Deion Sanders’ stature at practice — independent of the family connection — was genuinely special.
