Golden State Warriors owner Joe Lacob has confirmed the franchise was involved in discussions around LeBron James during the 2026 free-agency period, after James departed the Los Angeles Lakers. Speaking on Tim Kawakami’s TK Show podcast, Lacob acknowledged the team’s interest while admitting he has no clear explanation for why James ultimately signed with the Philadelphia 76ers.

He suggested a partnership between James and Stephen Curry would have been a spectacle for basketball fans globally, pointing to their shared experience at the Olympics as a hint of what could have been. James went elsewhere. In Lacob’s words, it was simply a different route — one the Warriors owner could not explain.
What Lacob Said About the LeBron Pursuit
